The moon looked pretty cool and I had to play with my new lens.
So I took a shot of it.

A Nice Afternoon for the Queen
After my whirlwind of sorts yesterday, I didn't really feel like doing much today. I did however look at FlightRadar and saw the Queen on the way. So I decided to at least head over to the airport to catch her.
The first plane I caught was a 757 on its way from Tampa.
The straight on shot as she makes her way for the gates.
A CRJ-900 arriving from Cleveland.
The Princess heads to the gate.
An A330 being followed by an A319 and 747.
Another shot of the Princess.
The A330 touching down after arriving from Paris.
An A319 belonging to Spirit Airlines coming from Philadelphia. This particular one is the Spirit of Suncatcher.
The Lufthansa 747 getting ready to touchdown.
I don't think I could get a much more DTW photo than this one.
A massive cloud of smoke as the massive bird touches down.
One more shot of her as she stops.

The Angry Goose Passes By
The next ship is another one that I wasn't sure I would catch.
When I checked AIS in the morning, it seemed like she was way up north. I thought she would pass by before I headed back home.
I'm glad she didn't because I actually like the mural on her pilothouse.
For these pictures, I was at the maritime center.
she's about to pass.
One more shot.
On the way home, I thought I had an outside chance to catch the President in Air Force One. I stopped by Selfridge in the hopes of catching a glimpse of the plane because I thought that it had already landed. It didn't and I didn't want to stick around longer to catch her. It sounds like I could have found a decent place to catch her. Oh well.

Herbie the Love Boat
The next ship was kind of surprise.
She is the Herbert C. Jackson and when I checked AIS in the morning, I wasn't sure if I would catch her.
Fortunately for me, she stopped in Detroit to fuel up. That slowed her up enough so that I could catch her.
I'm glad I caught her because she's a beautiful ship.
I think she was delivering stone because of the dust on her side.
She was returning to Stoneport but I'm not sure of her next trip.
It was a sunny day yesterday at least.

The Tugboat Debbie Lee
The next vessel is kind of an oddity.
It is the tug Debbie Lee belonging to Malcolm Marine of St. Clair, MI. She is a 40 foot tug with a 450 horsepower engine.
She was built in 1955 for the US Coast Guard. She is currently used for dredging.

Watching the Ducks Fly By
It was a pretty cold day yesterday and that kind of put a damper on my activities. I saw some ducks flying by, so I needed to get some pictures.
I'm not sure what kind of duck this is, but I needed a picture.
These are my happy place birds, cormorants. I always see them along the St Clair and Detroit Rivers.
I'm not sure what kind of ducks these are, but they are pretty neat looking.
One of them flying low to the water.
And one more shot.

A Steam Engine in the Park
I've been meaning to take a picture of this since I saw that they cleaned her up.
She is a former Detroit Engine steam engine and is in one of the parks as you enter Marysville.
I think this is the mascot for Detroit Edison. As I was taking its picture, I noticed the graffiti in the upper right. It's sad because they just recently repainted this engine and some jerk has to write on it.
A shot from the front.
And a three quarters view.

Watching the Algoma Harvester Pass By
The next ship was following the Munson fairly closely.
She was the Algoma Harvester and belongs to the Algoma Central Corporation.
I think she was coming downbound with a load of grain from Thunder Bay.
She is on her way to Quebec where she will offload her cargo. I think another ship will pick it up from there for delivery overseas.
One more shot before moving on.

Catching the John G. Munson
Today was kind of a banner day. They were doing a book signing of Know Your Ships at the Maritime Center in Port Huron. They also had a pretty good artist doing caricatures there. It was nice to meet some of the people there. But first, the ships.
First up was the John G. Munson heading downbound on the St. Clair River. She was carrying a load from Stoneport.
And she was heading to Fairport, Ohio which is east of Cleveland. I presume that she was carrying a load of stone.
At any rate, it was pretty cool to see her.
The almost three quarters shot.
Another shot of her.
The beam shot.
And she continues on her way.

The Philip R. Clarke Passes By
So I had the chance to catch another classic laker, but it was getting dark and I wasn't sure if I could get her.
My light was waning, but my camera has pretty decent high ISO capability. I'm not sure about the blue tint though.
But I guess that gives an idea on how cold it was getting.
A nice pile of steam behind her.
She passes the chemical row.
Tried to get a shot with the moon in it but I think the moon was too high.
One more before heading back home.
