For five years, I've been driving a Dodge Neon. It wasn't a bad car and I was hoping to keep it for another 6 months or so. But then I started to look online and started to see all the incentives being offered right now. I figured now would be a good time to get a car.
So far I've owned two Chevy Cavaliers and the Neon. The first Cavalier was a manual transmission and served me pretty well for almost 6 years. The second Cavalier was an automatic and didn't serve me quite as well as the first. The second Cavalier ended ended up dying on me, so I had to get the Neon. I bought the Neon used but it served me pretty well however it was showing signs of needing some work. So rather than waiting for when it definately needed something done, I decided on a new car.
I've driven a small car for all of my life, so I decided to get another small car. I decided on a Ford because it seems like of the Big Three, Ford has it's act the most together.
Ford Motor Company was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford. It was his second attempt at a car company. His first attempt became the Cadillac Motor Company. His first factory was in Detroit on Mack Avenue. He didn't invent the Assembly Line but he did come up with the idea of having the product move to the workers instead of the other way around. Ford has been family owned for 100 years and is one of the largest family owned companies in the world.
Ford has had ups and downs. The most recent down was when Ford's management decided to basically double down and put everything on the table. Many in the financial press were dismissing Ford but this move gave them the operating capital to make it through the downturn.
So who knows what the future holds for them.
I decided to get a shot with the lighthouse in the background.
That is a sharp looking car.
