The Canoers Monument

If you turn right as you are leaving Lumberman's Monument, you will come across this monument.

It is the Canoer's monument and is meant to commemorate the canoe racers on the AuSable River.
Looking over the valley that near the side of it.
The monument was built in 1968 by the Michigan Canoe Racing Association.  It is meant to honor the racers and the supporters of the marathon.
I think they had an induction ceremony in September.
Some of the news additions.
The people who have finished the marathon.
