So I went down to Detroit to catch the passing of ship. While I was waiting for that ship, I saw a pair of cruise ships on the river. I'm not sure how many cruise ships there are on the Great Lakes but it seems like it is a growing number.
The Viking Octanis is a sister ship to one I caught a couple of weeks ago. I think I've caught her before. She was built in 2022. She has five decks and carries 378 passengers. I think she will be done with the season soon.
Le Champlain is owned by Ponant Cruise Lines out of France. She is about half the side of Viking Octanis and can carry 184 guests. She was built in Norway and registered in France.
