As I was looking for something to do, I saw that the Frontenac and Lee A. Tregurtha would be passing Detroit. I has been a while since I've caught the Frontenac and I think she is one of the ships that is not long for this world, so I headed down.
The Frontenac is one of the last classic Canadian Lakers. And when I say classic, I mean with the pilothouse forward.
The others are the CSL Tadoussac and the John D. Leitch. The CSL Tadoussac is currently on Lake Ontario and the Leitch is at Port Midland. I think she is fitting out and will be doing stuff soon but currently she is in layup.
I think the Frontenac is the best looking of the bunch. She reminds me of the Algomarine and Algosteel. And I suspect for good reason.
She was heading down from Drummond Island, which means she was likely carrying a load of stone.
She didn't have much further to go as she was heading to Windsor.
I'm not sure if that was to deliver her full load or not.

I think she was starting to make the turn for her dock.
this was a pretty unusual angle.
And she makes more of a turn.
When they dock, they usually do it against the current, I'm not sure why. This show also gives me a chance to do a progress report for the Gordie Howe Bridge. As you can see, they are almost done with the span. I think they have a ways to go on the approaches though.
