The Gaia DeGagnes Passes Belle Isle

My adventure took me over to Belle Isle.  I wanted to show my mother the cherry blossoms and the eagle's nest.  Both were fine.  As I was driving through the island, I was greeted by a surprise.

 The Gaia Desgagnes is a new visitor to this page. 

 She is owned by Groupe Desgagnes out of Montreal and is Canadian flagged.

 She was built in 2018 in China.  She is a tanker and can carry a little over 5 million gallons of liquid.

 She has a double hull and is powered by a 6,000 horsepower diesel engine.

 She is over 450 feet long and about 70 feet wide

I'm not sure where she was headed though.

The Maria Desgagnes Passes Detroit

It was a pretty miserable day today.  It started with freezing rain in the morning and continued to rain for the rest of the day.  The temperature was in the upper thirties and it was pretty windy.    I didn't want to pass on taking pictures though.  There was this ship and another ship that I wanted to catch.

 I like the Desgagnes ships.  They are usually well kept up and painted pretty well.  This one was the Maria Desgagnes.

As I said, it was a miserable day.  I almost missed her because I decided to take Michigan Avenue to Detroit.  It took me much longer than normal but was probably more relaxing that attempting the freeway.

And the Thalassa Desgagnes Makes an Appearance

As I was getting ready to leave the area, I saw that the next ship would be approaching St. Clair.  I decided to head down there to catch her before heading home.

 The Thelassa Desgagnes is a tanker owned by Group Desgagnes out of Montreal.

 I'm not sure where she was coming from but she was heading up to Sarnia.

The Jana Desgagnes Slips By

The next one is another one that surprised me.

 I think the Jana Desgagnes was docked in Sarnia.  she was either loading with fuel or had just unloaded there.  At any rate, she was another ship I was not expecting to catch.

 She was on her way to Montreal.

 She's another ship I haven't seen in a while, which is kind of a shame because I like her coloring.

 A warning that she might be carrying dangerous stuff.
