The Korean War represented the first time that we had Jet Vs. Jet Combat. It is probably best represented by the F-84 Sabre Vs. the MiG-17.
This is the P-80 Shooting Star which was the United States' first operational jet. It saw some service in the Korean War but not much.
This was the F-82 Twin Mustang. It was built this way for increased fuel range.
This is the MiG-15 which was the main North Korean fighter in the war. It was faster and more maneuverable than the F-84 but not as well armed.
This is the F-84 Sabre, the main American plane in the war. It wasn't as maneuverable or fast as its adversary but the US had an advantage in that it still had combat trained pilots from World War II and that made the difference. The Kill Ratio was phenomenal.
