Next Up....the CSL Laurentien

 I saw this ship as she was passing Port Huron when I arrived to catch the Saginaw.  I figured that I could catch her at another spot on the river, so I wasn't too worried.

So after catching the Saginaw, I headed to another spot on the river.  I thought that it would end up being Marine City but I saw that she was approaching St. Clair as I got there.

She was heading to Quebec City but I'm not sure where she was heading from.

That could likely mean a load of grain.  In which case, she could have come down from Thunder Bay.

At this point, that would be a two day trip.

From today, it is two more days to Quebec City, which makes the total trip six days.

Anyway, she is a nice looking ship.

I think she is one of the last lakers to be built in Canada.

She looks like she could use a little love though.

But most Canadian ships look like that.

The sky was starting to get a little grayer.

But it looked pretty cool.

It was a little bit on the windy side.

She continues on her way.

Catching the Saginaw

I originally thought this was a "catching up" post because I thought it's been a while since I've seen the Saginaw.  But it's only been a month.  Oh well, she is a favorite and I was happy to see her.

I was going to go out boatwatching on Saturday but I wasn't feeling particularly well and the people driving near me didn't help.  So I headed back home.  It would have been a nice day for it too.

I saw that I had a chance to catch a couple on Sunday and  this was one I really couldn't pass on, so I headed out.

I think she was heading up from Detroit but I'm not 100% sure because I didn't see her earlier in the day.

I think she was hidden by some other ships.  That sometimes happens on Marine Traffic.

She is still sporting the patch on her side.  I wonder if they are going to give it a proper paint job.  I think she is coming due for her five year certificate.

She was heading up to Calcite.

Which means she was going up for stone or to get stoned, one of the two.

I think that is in line with what she was built to do.

She is a nice looking boat.

But she looks like she needs some love.

But I think Lower Lakes keeps her pretty busy.

She makes her way for Lake Huron.

Waiting for Pi

 After catching the Tregurtha, I wasn't quite done.  I decided to stop at the airport.

I had to use a different spot because my normal spot was being repaved.  It's not a bad spot and I will try it again some day.

An A321 coming in from Miami.

This is a plane I haven't seen in a while.  The Spirit of Seattle 737 was coming in from Tampa.

Next up was a CRJ-900 coming in from Pittsburgh.

This was a pretty cool one to catch.  It was a Cessna Citation coming in from Bay City.

An Air Canada CRJ-900 coming from Montreal.

An American Airlines E175 comes from the land of Rocky.

And this is the plane that made me want to stop for some planes.

It was a 767 coming in from Munich.

I'll have to say this is my favorite of the bunch.

Moving Along on the Gordie Howe Bridge

I decided to take a picture of the Gordie Howe Bridge.

After years and years of delays because of Detroit politics, they are finally moving along on the Gordie Howe Bridge.  The bridge is expected to be complete next year.
 

The American Courage Stops For Fuel

 This is a ship that I was hoping to catch as she was passing but it seems that she needed fuel.

The American Courage was coming up from Cleveland.  I think she was doing shuttle runs there.  She was heading up to Alpena.

The J.W. Westcott at her Dock

 The J.W. Westcott is back from repairs.

I didn't get to see her in action as they were using the M.W. Westcott.

Catching Up With Lee A. Tregurtha

I saw that the Lee A. Tregurtha was coming down.  I was thinking that I would catch her at Port Huron but she was passing there too early.  I decided to catch her at Riverside Park.

I barely caught her earlier in the season and it seems like every other time has been at a time when I couldn't catch her.

She was coming down from Marquette.

She had a load of taconite.

And she was heading to the Rouge Steel Mill.

I was thinking of catching her there too but I didn't really feel like it.

She gets a visit from the Westcott.
