A New Visitor to Michigan Exposures

Yesterday was the 49th anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.  There was a visitor that was important to that event passing on the river yesterday, so I decided to go out boatwatching.  More on that in the next post.

As I was waiting for the next ship, I saw that this one was leaving her dock in Sarnia.  It turns out that it is one that I haven't seen yet.
The Algoma Bear arrived on the Great Lakes earlier this year.  I've been meaning to catch her but the times never quite worked out for me.
She is the latest of the Equinox class of ships that Algoma Central has been building in China.  I'm not sure if she is the last though.
The Algoma Bear was built by Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding Co. LTD. in China but I'm not sure where.
She is 740 feet long and has a beam of 78 feet.  This means that she can fit in the Welland Canal (obviously since she's here).
I'm not sure what she has been used for but she has a self unloader which gives her a bit of versatility.
She is capable of carrying a little over 24,000 tons of cargo.
She was heading to Baie Comeau which I assume means she was carrying some sort of grain.
It was nice to see her but I was kind of surprised how rough she looked already.
One more shot with the drone.
And she disappears into the fog.
