The next ship is a ship that I see often enough and it is usually making the same route.
The Honorable James L. Oberstar was coming down from Marquette. She would have picked up a load of taconite in Marquette. Taconite is processed iron. Most of the iron left in the area is about 20 to 50% pure and it has to be refined.
It is refined into little pellets. That actually makes it easier to carry and plan the loads.
I think the process used to refine the pellets also removes alot of the moisture, so it is easier to unload.
Anyway, she was taking the iron ore to the steel mill on the Rouge River.
I would have chased her there too but it was getting late.
And it was cold.
Anyway, it was nice to catch her.
It was cold enough that her scrubber was putting out a nice plume of steam.
A relatively clean background.
She's about to pass Windsor.
Some of the buildings in Windsor.
Another relatively clean background.
She's about to pass under the Ambassador Bridge.
A shot as she passes.
One more shot with the Bridge.
And she continues down the river.
One more shot.
