Lunchtime Distance Spotting

I took my camera into work with me yesterday because I was planning to go spotting after work.  It is staying light later and that gives me the opportunity to catch a few flights.  Since I had a meeting right after lunch, I decided to stay in for lunch and that gave me a little time for some spotting.
When the wind is blowing in a certain direction, the planes will fly almost right over our building.  It's fun when I hear a DC-9 or 727 from Willow Run fly over.  This was neither of those but just a 737.  Not sure where it was heading though.
It was followed by a CRJ.
Another 737.  I think this one was heading to the west coast somewhere.
I think this CRJ was on its way to Grand Rapids.  If not, I'll pretend it was.
And a Cessna doing touch and goes out of Ann Arbor Airport.

Amongst the Cessnas

After getting out of work yesterday, I decided that I wanted to do a little spotting at Ann Arbor Airport.  I saw a handful of planes doing touch and goes there.  Granted, I have a few pictures of each of these planes, but I really can't pass up on planes.
The planes were taking off to the east, so my normal spot wouldn't work for me.  I ended up going to a spot on the side of the airport and I actually like this spot a little better.  It gives me some different angles of the planes.
The light was just about right for some side shots.
Can't quite get a front shot, but I can come pretty close.
I'm sure I have a hundred pictures of this plane.
I'm not sure about this one.
I'm pretty sure I have a bunch of this one.
But Cessnas are such nice looking aircraft.
One more shot before moving on.

Stopping for Gas

I actually like to stop for gas at the Speedway station at the corner of State and Ellsworth.  Sometimes it gives me a chance to catch a plane or two.
I think this Cessna 152 was doing touch and goes.
I usually see it at the Ann Arbor Airport.
It is owned by the Michigan Flyers, I think.
One of these days, I may have to see about going up in it for a tryout flight.

A Brief Stop at Ann Arbor Airport

After catching pictures of the train, I decided to stop at Ann Arbor Airport.  I was seeing a couple of planes doing touch and goes.
this was a Delta Airlines A350 heading to Amsterdam, I think.
 A Cessna 152.
 Another angle of that plane.
Once of the things I like about Ann Arbor Airport is that I can get some different angles than what I would get at Metro.  If I move, I can get headshots.
 this is a Cessna 172.
And this United Airlines 737 was on its way to San Francisco from Detroit.
 Another Cessna 152.
 And another angle of that.
I was about ready to leave when I saw this red plane.
It is a Cessna 172 and it belongs to Michigan Flyers.
It looked pretty cool in this light.
And one more angle of it.

Sunset at Ann Arbor Airport

I got out of work a little early tonight and that gave me just enough light to catch a pair of Cessnas coming in for a landing at Ann Arbor Airport.  They were doing touch and goes.
First up was a Cessna 172.  I guess I never really realized there are different Cessna models.
But I supposed it makes sense since it is a fairly old plane.  The 172 was first flown in 1955 and is a variant of the 170 which was a tail dragger.  In that time there have been 44,000 produced.
I think there have been pilots that have cut their teeth on this model.
And this is a Cessna 152.  I think it was coming in for a landing but the plane in front of it didn't clear the runway in time, so it had to do a go around.

The Sunset Cessna

It was a nice sunset tonight so I decided to catch a plane that was doing touch and goes at Ann Arbor airport.
It was a Cessna 152 that belonged to the Michigan Flyers.  Unfortunately I couldn't catch it in the nice part of the sky but I liked the pinks and purples in this part of the sky.
The sun was hitting it pretty well.
I kind of liked this shot.
I was hoping that I could catch it in the better part of the sky but it fell behind the trees pretty quickly.
I saw that it was making one more pass, so I took pictures hopefully but this wast the last that I could take.

A Trio of Planes at Ann Arbor Airport Tonight

I saw that there were a couple of planes circling when I left work tonight.  Unfortunately, I didn't have much daylight left to do justice to the pictures.
First up was a Cessna 152 owned by the Michigan Flyers.
And this was a Cessna 172 owned by them as well.
Probably the best side shot I could get, but I only caught each of these planes once.
This is probably my favorite picture of the bunch.  It is a Piper Archer, I think.

Catching a Cessna

I had to get gas tonight, so that meant a stop to my favorite Speedway.
I just missed catching a different aircraft but it seems like there is always a Cessna.
This particular one was a Cessna 152.  I think it was doing touch and goes.
It was a little on the windy side but not too bad.
At least the sky was clear.
One more shot before moving on.

A Cessna 172 Landing at Ann Arbor Airport

I had to go get gas tonight, so it was off to the Speedway at the corner of State and Ellsworth.
One of the things that I like about that Speedway is the chance to get a little planewatching in sometimes.
If the winds are right, I can usually get a good picture.
 They also pass by.
So I can usually get a good profile shot.
This particular aircraft is a Cessna 172 built in 1975.  It is currently owned by the Michigan Flyers.
