Gen Con 2009 - Indianapolis

Gen Con is one of the largest gaming conventions in the world. It was originally started by the founder of Dungeons and Dragons and was held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin (home of TSR at the time and hence "gen"). Later it moved to Milwaukee and then to Indianapolis. It covers boardgames, roleplaying games, live action roleplaying, minatures and a few other types of games. It draws a pretty impressive number of people.

Despite being a fan of gaming and Dungeon and Dragons for a long time, this is the first year I've ever gone and I'll have to say that it was pretty fun and cool to see all the different games that are out there.

This is a picture of a game we played called of "Heirs of Alexander", the guy is working on getting it published and wanted some opinions of people other than the people he's been playing with and I'll have to say it was pretty fun.

Another picture of that game.

A statue of one of the figures from a game called Magic. This is called a Serra Angel.

There were quite a few people in costume, these people are dressed up as Rebel Fleet Troopers from Star Wars: A New Hope

A stormtrooper. The guy on the right was dressed as a Sandtrooper.

This is a game called Monsterpocalypse. It looks like it might be fun.

This is another game I played called Oregon Trail. It is loosely based on the computer game from a few years ago of the same name.

These are my oxen. We had "Old One Eye".

This was from a World War I miniature game.

These were from a minatures game called War Machine.

This is a sculpture made of Magic Cards.

This was a pirate game played with ships made of Legos. It looked like it might be fun.

There were a bunch of other games I saw and I had a blast. I will probably try to go next year.
