Glen Haven, Michigan

Glen Haven is a restored village that now part of the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. It is located near the town of Glen Arbor and is just east of the main part of the park. Also here is the Sleeping Bear Coast Guard Maritime Museum.

The village was founded in 1857 as a place called Sleeping Bearville. It was abandoned in 1940 and purchased by the park service in the 70's.

This building was used as a warehouse for a while and then a place to can cherries. It is now used as a boathouse museum.

Another shot of the canning plant.

This is looking out at one of the Manitou Islands. I liked the way the sun was hitting it and creating a nice purple shade.

This is a channel between the islands.

Another shot of the island.

I liked the way that the sky looked behind this trees.

This is an old gas pump.

The top of the gas pump.

This is a sign that is in the window of a general store that used to be located here.

This is the general store.

I liked the look of this tree.

Wow! That gas pump was cutting edge technology when I was getting my license.
