Traveling on M-22

I'm pretty sure that I've commented on this before.
M-22 is a Michigan highway that is 116 miles long and follows the outline of the Leelanau Peninsula of Michigan.  It goes down the Lake Michigan shoreline to Manistee where it meets up with US-31.  It's northern terminus is in Traverse City.

It is a popular highway and many signs have ended up getting stolen.  I think I read somewhere that the State of Michigan is planning to take the M off and just have the diamond with a 22 in it.  I saw a couple places where they had M-22 painted on the road.
