The Huron and Eastern Railway

If you've followed this blog for any amount of time, you know that I'm a fan of trains. They aren't high on the list (below ships and planes but above cars) but I do like them. Yesterday, my mom showed me one of the railyards that are around Bay City. This particular one belongs to the Huron and Eastern Railway.

The Huron and Eastern Railway began operations in 1986 using track in the Thumb that was operated by the Chesapeake and Ohio. In 1988, they acquired more track.

In 2004, they acquired the Central Michigan Railway (Not to be confused with the Michigan Central) and expanded into Bay City and Saginaw.

They are owned by Rail America.
