The Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrement

The Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrement was established in 1905 to serve Catholics in the northern parts of Detroit. It is located on Woodward Avenue almost as you are leaving Detroit.

Construction of the church started in 1913 and the interior was completed in 1930. It wasn't until 1951 that the exterior was completed. It is built of Indiana limestone and Ohio sandstone.

The interior of the church is pretty impressive. Very ornate stained glass.

This is the stained glass at the front of the church.

This is the view as you are looking from the back of the church towards the altar.

This is a close up of the altar.

Some of the organ pipes.

The towers.

A view of the side of the cathedral. It is a gothic style.
