The Old Michigan City Lighthouse

Next I decided to head over to Michigan City.  I thought it might be interesting over there.
Constructed in 1858, this is the second lighthouse to be built in Michigan City.  It replaced one that was built in 1838.
This one was different from the first in that the dwelling was actually attached to the tower.  The foundation was built with Joliet stone and the brick is from Milwaukee.
This lighthouse was replaced in 1904 by the one I will be posting next.
It's kind of a neat looking lighthouse.
One more shot.
