Michigan City East Light

Standing at the end of a pier and at the entrance of the harbor is the Michigan City East Light. This was built in 1904 and replaced the Old Michigan City Light. The catwalk still has its walking surface which is rare.

In 2007 was deemed excess by the Coast Guard and the city is applying to be one of the groups to get it.

Looking out towards the lighthouse. I was surprised to see that it had a pretty close resemblence to the St. Joseph lighthouse. But I guess they have some degree of standardization.

A closer shot of the lighthouse.

A close up of the tower.

A closer shot of the lighthouse.

A shot of the entrance.

The navigation aid on the other side of the channel.

A view of the lighthouse from the beach.
