My last ship was the Spruceglen.
She was built in Govan, Scotland by Govan Shipbuilders Ltd in 1983 and started life as the Selkirk Settler. The plan was to operate her on the Great Lakes during the shipping season and on the ocean during the other times. She carries mostly grain.
In 1991, her ownership was transferred to Federal Navigation of Detroit where she was renamed the Federal St. Louis and became a strictly ocean ship. Her ownership changed many times as did her name.
In 2002, she was acquired by the Canadian Steamship Lines and renamed the Spruceglen. She has an overall length of 730 feet and can carry 33,000 tons of cargo.
