An Odd Looking Tugboat

As I was looking at other ships, I saw this guy coming down.

I presume it was a tug of some sort but I'm not sure what kind.
She was pushing a barge.
I assume it was barge with material from dredging.
I assume the name is Shaowdasse but I can't find any information on it.

The William Hoey Pushing the Fuel Barge

I like tugboats but I don't get to see them very often.

When I do see them I try to get pictures of them.
I noticed this barge coming up and I figured there had to be a tug behind it.
Sure enough, there was a tug.
The tug was the William Hoey and I've seen her before.
She was pushing a fuel barge for the salties that were in the Belle Isle anchorage.

Not the First Time for the Harbour First

The next ship was coming down from Sarnia, I think.

The Harbour First is one of many salties that ply the Great Lakes.
She is a tanker and that typically means they are going to pick up liquids.
According to her AIS, she is heading to Montreal.
That's at least a couple more days of travel for her.
I would imagine she is heading to Montreal to unload her current cargo and pick up something for overseas.
It seems like the salties come over for one thing and then head back.
Sometimes they will deliver multiple loads before heading back though.
The Westcott at her side for a pilot change.
Salties are required to have a Great Lakes pilot.
The Westcott pulls away.
Each going their separate ways.
The Harbour First continuing on her journey.

A Couple of Shots of the Fire Boat

As I was bringing my drone back, I had some power left in the battery, so I decided to get some pictures of the fireboat.

It's a pretty cool looking vessel.
From the front.

Cementing Her Legacy

This of course is one of the ships that I wanted to see.  I saw she was coming down.

The Alpena was heading down from her namesake city.
She had a load of cement for Detroit.
Well it turns out that it was a split load of cement as she is currently on her way to Cleveland as I type this.
It's always nice to see this classic.
And this one seems like I will see her for a while longer now.
One more shot with my regular camera.
And then I switched to my drone.
Was trying a lower altitude.
I kind of like this shot.
She starts to pass me by.
I like this angle.
The beam shot.
She continues on her way to the cement dock.

And the Onego Merchant

This is actually a ship that I have not seen before.

The Onego Merchant is owned by the Onego Shipping and Transportation company out of the Netherlands.
She was built in 2002.
She flies under the flag of Mediera.
She would be a nice looking ship without the rust.
But I like the color.
The beam shot.
She was heading to the anchorage.
She is heading to Conneaut after this.

A Drone Shot Looking Down River

As I was looking at another ship that was coming upbound, I looked downriver and I kind of liked this shot.

This is pretty much the view from Riverside Park.  They are making good progress on the Gordie Howe Bridge.  It looks like they are cleaning out the Nicholson Terminal (but they might keep the dock).  They are making progress on the other side of Riverside.  You can see a pair of ships.
