US Air Force Museum - Early WWII

This part represents the Early World War II years.

This is a depiction of the Eagle Squadron which was a group of American pilots that fought with the RAF.

This is a P-36. It didn't see much use in World War II.

This is a P-35, another plane that didn't see much use.

This is the P-40 Warhawk which was the plane made famous by the Flying Tigers. It was heavier armed and armored than the Zero but not as maneuverable.

This is the P-39 Airacobra. The US didn't use many but the Soviets loved them. Especially the 40mm cannon. They used them quite a bit for ground attack.

This is a B-25 Mitchell. The scene is from the raid on Tokyo where B-25's took off from the deck of the USS Hornet. It was one of the contributors to the Battle of Midway. There wasn't much damage but it was a shot in the arm to the morale of the US.
