Some Shots From the Air

 After I finished with the ships, I wanted to get some shots from the air.

I think I might need to go to Del Ray some day to get a closer shot to the Bridge.  I would really like to get a picture of the approaches and I think it would be better to do that from the air.  There are quite a few wires around the approaches.  Anyway, I still like this shot.

So I turned the done the other way.  I really like this shot.  I think I might have to find a spot to get a closer shot of downtown Detroit.  I think that would look really cool.  I have some ideas of spots I can use.

The Fall Foliage of Belle Isle From the Air

 As I was returning the drone from taking pictures of the Florence Spirit, I looked over the view of Belle Isle.  I notice that many of the trees had turned color.  I also liked the way the sky was reflecting some of the ponds.

So this a shot of the Aquarium, Conservatory and the Nancy Brown Peace Carillon.  I'm thinking I should have flown the drone more over the area.  Oh well, I think it is still a nice shot.

A Drone Shot of the Blue Water Bridge

 My mom took the trip up to Port Huron with me.  I just wanted to show her what the drone looked like while it was up in the air.  while I was doing that, I figured I might as well get a shot of the Blue Water Bridge.

 It's amazing how different things look from the air.  I don't know how many times I have see this view from the ground.  I never realized just how blue the river was.  I'll have to say that it looks pretty cool.

Drone Shots of the Frankenmuth Covered Bridge

 I wanted one more chance to play with my drone on Saturday, so I stopped in Frankenmuth.

I know one thing, I'll have to learn that I can go higher with my drone.  If it means I have to trust the auto return feature, so be it.  I do like this shot though.

 One more.  I also need to work on moving more to the center of things.  One of the advantages of a drone is that I can get a shot from almost any angle.

Michigan Exposures Gets a New Toy

 After years of resisting,  I finally got myself a drone.  I don't plan on using that instead of my camera especially since drones are not permitted in some of the photography I do but I do plane on using it as a supplement.

 This is the first shot I took with my drone.  I think you can see the Iver Spirit way in the back there.  Of course you can see the Renaissance Building and the other buildings of Detroit.  I was just messing around with this shot, so I didn't take the drone up as high as I could.  As I learn how to fly the drone, I suspect I will be braver in my picture taking.  On Saturday, I just wanted an idea.

A Couple Aircraft

Since I didn't want to spread these out over a couple of posts, I decided to put them into one post.

 As I was waiting for one ship to pass, I heard the distinctive sound of an airplane flying overhead.  I looked up and saw this guy.  It is known as a Wag-Aero CUBy and was developed by Dick Wagner of Wag-Aero of Lyons, Wisconsin.  The company was started by him and Bobbie Wagner in their basement in the 1960s.  In 1971, they moved to a permanent place.
The CUBy was developed as a replica of the Piper Cub.  It was sold as a kit aircraft and was first flown in 1975.  It is powered by a Continental C-85 engine which has 85 Horsepower.  This gives it a speed of 102 miles per hour.  It can carry one passenger in tandem.

 This is a closeup shot of the drone that was flying around.  I'm not sure what kind it was though.  I am very intrigued by the idea of a drone but I'm not sure I want to shell out the kind of cash required for a good one.

 As I was waiting for another ship, I saw this Dolphin coming in.  I'm not sure where it was heading.

But it ended up heading back out.
