The next one is another one that surprised me.
I think the Jana Desgagnes was docked in Sarnia. she was either loading with fuel or had just unloaded there. At any rate, she was another ship I was not expecting to catch.
She was on her way to Montreal.
She's another ship I haven't seen in a while, which is kind of a shame because I like her coloring.
A warning that she might be carrying dangerous stuff.
And she's off.

And Just Some Random Bits
Just some randomness from the River.
A cormorant swam close enough to get a decent picture.
The Jana Desgagnes docked.
Stalker boat. The Algosoo waits in layup to get out and about again. From what I hear, this will be happening soon.

Last Up, the Jana Desgagnes
My last ship of the day was kind of a surprise. I didn't notice her on AIS but I will take it all the same.
The Jana Desgagnes is a tanker that is run by the Desgagnes Group out of Quebec City.
I think they are beautiful looking ships. I love their color scheme. Especially the orange band across the pilothouse.
An almost beam shot.
I'm not sure where she is headed though.

The Jana Desgagnes Passes Belle Isle
So I decided to go boatwatching yesterday. I saw that there were a few ships that were heading past Belle Isle that I might be interested in. The only problem was that I forgot there was a home Lions game, so it took me a little bit longer than I planned to get down there.
I was able to make to Belle Isle with a little time to spare. The first ship I caught was the Jana Desgagnes.
I believe she is a tanker and is owned by the Desgagnes Group out of Quebec City. She was built in 1993.
She's a pretty nice looking ship.

The Jana Desgagnes
This is another ship I thought I was seeing for the first time.
Turns out that isn't the case. Oh well....such is life.

The Jana Desgagnes
As it turns out, I was able to make it to Downtown Detroit. I still wasn't sure if I would be able to get any ship pictures as it looked like many of the ships had already passed by Detroit. But I went down to Riverside Park anyway and as I looked upriver, I saw a ship.
Turns out the ship was the Jana Desgagnes which is a tanker operated by Desgagnes Tankers out of Canada. I think I've taken pictures of other tankers operated by this group.
I don't have any details on her construction but she is 405 feet long and can carry 10,511 tons of cargo.
Here she is set against the Ambassador Bridge.
Just as she is passing by. I tried to get a more detailed shot of the superstructure.

Here she is heading downriver. I kind of liked the sunsetting sky in the background.
