On Sunday, we decided to head over to the Falls before heading home. My mom was going to walk to one of the viewing area. We decided to take the scenic route from Sault Ste Marie to the Falls.
When you pass Brimley but just before you get to Point Iroquois, there is a sign that says "Scenic Overlook". If you take it, you go to a beautiful place where you see Monocle Lake and the entrance to the St Marys River. If there are ships in the river, it makes for a pretty nice view.
When we got there, there was a group of people driving those glorified golf carts and they practically had the hill taken over. Fortunately there was a spot I could squeeze in.

The Federal Hunter Passes Mission Hill
One of the side benefits of Mission Hill is that it gives a pretty nice view of Lake Superior/Whitefish Bay.
This is the point where ships enter the St Marys River. The Honorable James L. Oberster is heading to the right of the picture and also heading towards the Soo. The Federal Hunter is heading to the left of the picture and leaving the Soo.
The Federal Hunter is one of many salties that travel on the Great Lakes. I think she was on her way to Thunder Bay. If so, she would have been headed there to get some grain.
And this picture is from Point Iroquois. This is technically the start of Whitefish Bay.

Mission Hill Overlook
After I finished watching planes on Saturday I decided to head up to Sault Ste Marie for a brief trip. If you head west of Sault Ste Marie to Brimley, there is a drive that takes you from there to Paradise, MI. It is a pretty nice drive that follows the lakeshore.
As you take that drive, there is a spot that says "Scenic Overlook" and it takes you to the top of hill. This hill is called Mission Hill and you overlook Spectacle Lake and Lake Superior (near the back). I kind of wish I would have got up here a couple of weeks ago because I imagine it looked much better.
It's still a pretty nice view though.
