A Super Cub Flies Over Bay City

 So on Friday night I checked AIS to see what the boat traffic would look like on Saturday and I saw that the Cuyahoga was on her way to Saginaw.  I calculated how long it would take her to get to Bay City and I saw that it would be pretty early in the morning, so I got up to catch her.

As I was waiting for the Cuyahoga, I heard the sound of a propeller aircraft in the sky.  So of course I looked up.

It was a Super Cub towing a sign.  Apparently there was a walleye tournament on the Saginaw River that weekend.  So I saw quite a few fishermen.  It was a nice enough day, so I thought that might be just a normal day.

I will have to say it was a pretty cool looking plane.

A Piper Cub Flies Over Ann Arbor

After another day of lazing around, I decided to head over to Island Park again.  I was hoping to catch the owl and maybe some other birds.  I saw a Baltimore oriole but he was high up in a tree.  I heard a couple of cardinals but I couldn't locate them.  I went to the spot where I normally see the owl, but he was nowhere to be found.  It was raining a little bit, I think that maybe he was hunkered down somewhere.

 As I was walking back, I saw a Piper Cub up in the sky.  I decided to get a picture but he was a ways away.  fortunately, I can blow it up a bit.

I'm not sure what version of Piper Cub it is though.  So I'll stay with Piper Cub for now.

Yankee Air Force - Wings and Wheels

So on June 23, the Yankee Air Force held what they call Wings and Wheels.  I actually think this is the second time they did this.  Basically they assemble a bunch of old planes and old cars.  I wasn't sure I would be interested in it until I saw a handful of planes fly over my apartment.  They didn't have much flying when I got there but it was still pretty neat.

Some Airplanes Along the St Clair River

Occasionally as I am on the river, I will see aircraft.  There are a couple of general aviation airports in the area.

 I'm not sure what kind of aircraft this is.

 But this is a Piper Super Cub.  This is the continuation of the Piper Cub design.  It was first introduced in 1949 and through 40 years of production, over 9,000 were produced.  It is used in a multiple of general aviation roles.

And this is a regular Cessna.
