The Port Sanilac Lighthouse

After catching the Munson, it would be a couple of hours until the next ship.  That ship was heading downbound, so I figured I would head up the thumb until I saw her.  I ended up seeing her but I wasn't that far from Port Sanilac, so I decided to get a couple of pictures of the lighthouse there.
I never noticed a little path leading out to a pier before.  I figured that would give me a chance to get a picture of the lighthouse from a better angle.  So I took it.
And yes it did.  One of my complaints about the view from the street is that I can't get a good angle without getting something in the way.
And this view is just about perfect.
And one more shot before heading back to Port Huron.

Port Sanilac Lighthouse

If you head north out of Port Huron, you can catch M-25.  M-25 will take you on a tour around the thumb along the lakeshore.  There are a few lighthouses that you can stop at.
With the snow on the ground, I couldn't quite get the angle of this lighthouse that I wanted.  This one isn't particularly photograph friendly.
The lighthouse was built in 1886 and automated in 1928.  Currently it is in private hands although it still serves as an aid to navigation.
Based on the fact that I saw a dumper outside, I'm going to guess they are doing some work on it.
