Some Seagulls

While I'm waiting for the ship, I have some time to take other pictures.

So I took some seagull pictures.  I kind of like how this one turned out with the Blue Water Bridge as a backdrop.
I really like this one.
This one was fishing.
This one reminds me of an angel.
One more.

Some Seagulls

While I am between ships, I have the opportunity to get some wildlife pictures.  In this case, some seagulls.

This seems like a classic photo of a seagull.
Except that these posts sometimes get in the way of ships.
A seagull flying.
I kind of like this one.
Looking around.  I wish I could have gotten it diving.
I really like this one.

Some Seagull Shots

While I was waiting for a ship, I had the opportunity to get some seagull shots.

I was trying for some action shots.  I like this one.
One standing on the railing.
And I really like this shot.

Some Seagull Pictures

Between ships, I usually have some time to get some pictures of the birds.
I couldn't pass up a picture of this seagull, because he just caught a fish.  I liked the way he was skipping over the water.
I think he still had it here.
But he was looking again.

Some Seagulls

If you spend enough time along the water, you will see seagulls.
Many people consider seagulls as nuisance birds.  In many ways they are.
But they do have cool looking plumage.
 One standing on the rail.
Occasionally I try to get them in flight.

An Almost Flock of Seagulls

One the things that I always run into is seagulls.
it's kind of cool when I catch one in flight.
This one was looking for food.

A Group of Fishers

There is a group of fishing tugs that operate out of Sarnia.  I'm guessing that they are usually gone by the time I get up to Port Huron.
Anyway, I was able to catch them as they headed out to Lake Huron.
 Another angle.
Another fishing tug.  I think these look pretty cool.
A fisher of a different sort.
and a flying fisher.

A Pair of Seagulls

For many people seagulls are a nuisance but for me they represent my happy place.
Since seagulls tend to hang out by the water and since boats tend to hang out by the water, they remind me of my happy place.  While I enjoy taking pictures of other things, none of them are relaxing as watching a ship go by.  While a ship moves with purpose, it carries on so calmly that it's relaxing.
It's even more relaxing on a nice sunny day.

Shots Otherwise Not Classified

These are just some of my other shots while waiting for ships.
An airplane flew overhead.  I think this is a commuter airplane but I'm not sure what kind.  The plane is a Bombardier Dash 8 (thanks to an alert reader).  It is a turbo prop commuter aircraft that was introduced by DeHavilland in 1983.  DeHavilland Canada was found as a subsidiary of its British counterpart in 1928.  During World War II, they produced the Mosquito fighter-bomber which was one of the fastest planes built in World War II.  After the war, they produced a number of passenger aircraft and they were acquired by Bombardier in 1992.
A group of seagulls ride the ice floe down the river.
The Arthur M. Anderson photobombs a picture of a pair of tugs.  The one on the right is the Captain Keith and the other is a work tug.  Both are owned by Malcolm Marine.
The tug/barge combination Norman McLeod/Everlast.  They are unloading stuff at the plant in Sarnia.
The tugs without a ship in the background.  I kind of liked the reflection off the ice.
I think this is a redhead duck.
I made a brief stop in Detroit.  I was hoping to get a decent shot of the Algomarine as she was in the Belle Isle anchorage. She wasn't really in a good spot.
And a shot of the Ren Cen.
