The Shoveler Waits in Detour Passage

I'm not sure where the Shoveler was heading.  I am assuming either Duluth or Thunder Bay.

She was waiting in Detour Passage for a pilot, I assume.  I loved the fog looked in this picture.

Eagles in Ottawa and Ducks in Magee

As I was looking on Facebook today, I saw that the wildlife drive at the Ottawa National Wildlife Preserve was open.  So I ended up heading down there.  It was a little cold and windy but not too bad.   I also went over to the Magee Marsh, so these pictures are from both places.

As I was looking for another bird, I heard the sound of a Sandpiper, so I looked down and took a picture of it.
There was an eagle flying overhead.
The swans were looking for food.
But I think they were a little on the cold side.
A Canada Goose.
A mallard.  I just wish the sun were out a little more, I love the way their heads look in the sun.
A pair of mallard drakes and a hen.
I think this one is a gadwall.
I think this one is a greater scaup but I'm not sure.
Another angle of him and a better picture.
This one is a northern shoveler taking off.

The Shoveler Passes Belle Isle

On Saturday morning, I decided to get up a little earlier than normal.  There was at least one ship I wanted to catch as she passed Detroit.   This ship was a bonus.
The ship in question was the Shoveler.
The Shoveler was a saltie that is owned by Navarone SA Marine Enterprises and is registered in Limassol, Cyprus.
I'm not sure what she was carrying but she was on her way to Ravenna, Italy.  That journey should take her a while.  Currently, she is on the St. Lawrence River and is about 14 hours outside of Montreal.
Barring any stops, she should be out of the Seaway in four days or less from the point where she is at right now.
 A beam shot.
And she passes by.  According to the time she entered in AIS, she wont be in Italy until the 20th of October.
One more shot.
