Peninsular Paper Company

The Peninsular Paper Company was founded in 1867 by Daniel L. Quirk. It had a pretty lucrative business printing paper for the Chicago Tribune. The company produced paper until it was demolished in 2001 to make the land for what is now the Peninsular Place Apartments.

This is the top of the generator building which is still mostly standing.

This is a better shot of that building.

Even though it is a derelict building, the brick architecture looks fairly nice.

The waterfall was used to generate electricity. It also makes for a nice fall picture of the Huron River.

I think we need to get you into a canoe (or walk down the tracks) to get a "front" shot of that sign.

A shot from the McDonalds might work.

Hello! I work at the Huron River Watershed Council (www.hrwc.org). We would like to use some of your photos in our next newsletter. Would these be possible? would it be possible to get higher resolution versions of the 2nd and 4th photos on this page?

let me know,
thanks!
