The Algoma Transport Passing St. Clair

 I did not arrive in Marine City soon enough to catch this ship.

The Algoma Transport was one of the ships that was stuck in the western end of Lake Erie.

They didn't release them today like they did yesterday.

There was a couple of hours between each ship today.

She was heading up to Tunder Bay.

I'm pretty sure this is for layup though.

They might use her for salt though.

I hope not because that typically means a ship is on its last legs.

She does look pretty worse for wear.

It was nice to see her.

And Finally the Algoma Transport

 The next ship wasn't quite as close behind.

I was beginning to think that maybe she had stopped for fuel.

But a look at Marine Traffic confirmed that was not the case.

I finally saw her.  So I got out of my car after warming up a little bit.

She is also heading up to Thunder Bay.

I think it might be for layup but again I'm not sure.

It seems like she is one of the ships that Algoma keeps busy during the winter.

I think her holds are treated so that she can carry salt.

Anyway, it was cool to see.

And I like the pinks in the ice.

And Then There Was the Algoma Transport

 I was going to catch this one earlier but I had a pretty busy morning.  So I ended up making a cup of coffee and breakfast.  Then I took a little nap.

Instead of catching her near Port Huron, I ended up catching her off Belle Isle.  

This is not a bad spot.  I just can't get the headshot that I like.

I'm not sure where she's heading from because sometimes Marine Traffic will use Sault Ste Marie as the last port.

She might be coming down from Superior with a load of coal.

The is heading to Hamilton, Ontario which is at the western end of Lake Ontario.

As I type this, she is roughly in the middle of Lake Erie.

She is currently about 10 hours to the Welland Canal.

I think it is about 5 hours to transit the Welland Canal.

It is probably another 3 hours from there to Hamilton.

It's amazing how vast the Great Lakes really are.  Especially when you consider it was probably 48 hours from Superior to this point.

Waking Up to the Algoma Transport

 So it was my last day up at the Soo.  But it was going to be a fairly nice one.

First up was the Algoma Transport.

I think she was heading up to Thunder Bay.

Anyway, this is one of the older Algoma boats.

It was nice to see her.

But it looks she needs a little love.

I took my drone up.

I tried to use my drone on the other side of the river.

This was I was shooting with the sun.

Looks pretty cool.

I'm not sure what the yellow things are for.

She continues up the river.
