Next Up the G3 Marquis

 It wasn't too long for the next ship.

The G3 Marquis was coming down from Thunder Bay.

Presumably, she has a load of grain.  As Thunder Bay is a common place to get grain.

She was headed to Baie Comeau which is in the mouth of the St. Lawrence River.  It might even be close enough that there are brackish waters there.

As of this post, she is roughly around Montreal and I believe she has another day of sailing ahead of her.

Which I believe makes the total length of the trip six days long.

That makes it one of the longest trips on the Great Lakes.

She passes Windsor.

She approaches the Ambassador Bridge.

The lighting was still pretty good.

She passes the Bridge.

One more shot with the Bridge.

She continues down the river.

The company that owns her is based in Winnipeg, therefore she is registered there.  It is a place that she will never see.

One more shot as I head home.

The G3 Marquis

 I headed up to Belle Isle because I passed something interesting on the way to catch the Michipicoten on the Rouge River.  I was initially going to pass on this ship but I saw her passing, so I decided to get pictures.

The G3 Marquis is operated by Algoma Central.

She typically carries grain.

She is heading up to Thunder Bay, where she will pick up grain.

She continues on her way.   As I type this, she has another day until she arrives in Thunder Bay.  People have no idea how vast the Seaway is.

Catching the G3 Marquis

 So I decided to go boatwatching again on Sunday.  I saw at least one I was interested in catching.  It was a little windy but not too windy.

First up on the list was the G3 Marquis.

She carries grain mostly and is probably getting in her last trips of the season.

She was on her way up to Thunder Bay.  There she will gather grain.

Based on Marine Traffic, she will be heading back to Port Cartier.

She originally was bought by another company and is ran by Algoma Central.

I think the straight deckers look the nicest.

And then I switched to my drone.  Other than the wind, it was a pretty nice day.

I love the looks of the water.

I decided to get a couple more pictures that I usually do.

And she continues on her way to Thunder Bay.

One More Ship

 I had one more ship to catch.  This was another one that I didn't get many shots from my regular camera.

The wind was still pretty strong as you can see by the bow waves.

She passes the Mesabi Miner.

She was on her way to Quebec City.

Given that she was coming down from Thunder Bay, she had a load of wheat.

As I type this post, she is in Quebec City.

I'm not sure how long it takes to unload grain.

Given that there is no self unloading equipment, it might take a while.

I still find it interesting that she sports the name of a city that she will never visit.

Next Up...the G3 Marquis

 It was starting to rain a little bit for the next ship and I wasn't sure if I was going to take my drone up.

I decided to do it.  And I'm glad I did.

Got some pretty nice shots of this ship.

She was heading down from Thunder Bay.

I presume she was carrying grain because she is owned by a grain company.

She was heading to Quebec City.  As I type this post, she is heading through the Welland Canal.

I think she will be in Quebec City in a another couple days.

She sports the name of a city she will never visit.
