Catching a Moth

 I decided to head up to Marine City on Saturday.   There was a ship I was going to catch there.

As I was waiting for the ship, I saw this guy.

I think it is a moth of some sort but I'm not sure what kind.

Catching a Moth

As I was heading into work today I looked to the left of the door and saw something unusual.

 Since I had my camera with me, I had to take a picture.  The only problem was that I couldn't identify this particular moth.

 I think it may be a porcelain gray based on a website, but I'm not sure.  The colors don't look quite right.  Apparently they vary in color and the patter looks about right.  NOTE:  After posting one of these pictures on a facebook group, apparently it's a maple span worm.

I just wish I could have gotten a more frontal shot.

Some Sort of Moth

So as I was returning from lunch at work, I saw this moth.  Or at least I think it's a moth.

Unfortunately, I have no idea what kind of moth it is.  I think it might be a green arches moth but I'm not sure.

A Moth of Some Sort

As I was leaving work on Wednesday night (last Wednesday btw), I looked near the entrance and saw this moth.

My friend said that his mom called these Miller's Moth.  Trying to look it up, I think it is a pebble moth but I'm not sure since they are so close.

Mothra Attacks the Office

As I was heading out to lunch one day, someone caught a glimpse of this guy.  Of course, I had to grab my camera to get some pictures.  I guess that's one of the benefits of always bringing my camera.

 Apparently this is a luna moth and apparently they are a bit on the rare side.  Apparently this is also a female moth.

 I was just trying some other angles.

I kind of wish I could get around to get more of a face picture.  But oh well.

It was pretty cool to see the moth though.

A Moth At Work

Since I was planning on going to the Arboretum after work on Friday, I decided to take my camera into work with me.  It was a good thing I did because I was entering the building, I saw a fairly unique looking insect.

 So I was swiping my card to enter the building when I noticed this guy sitting just below the card reader.  I thought he was a pretty cool looking moth, so I put my stuff away and then came back out and took pictures of him.  I had no idea what he was and someone put a piece of paper on the door that told what he wasn't (the colors didn't match).

 Fortunately, the internet is a wonderful thing and I typed "green moth" into yahoo and looked at the pictures and found the one that matched this guy.

 Turns out that he is a luna moth.  Also turns out that this was a pretty good catch on my end.  A little later I was going to grab my Godzilla to have Godzilla vs. Mothra but the moth decided to leave.

And at some point, the flowers outside the entrance decided to bloom and then disappear.  So here is one of them.
