Catching a Tour Boat

As I was watching the water, I noticed that a boat was approaching.

It was a tour boat but I'm not sure where it was going or where it was coming from.

And the St. Joseph Lighthouse

I couldn't pass up taking pictures of the lighthouse.

 It was a calm day, so there wasn't too much wave action.  Nor was there too much cloud action.

 It still is a pretty nice looking lighthouse under those circumstances.

 It's kind of nice going on a weekday because there aren't a ton of people getting in the way.

 The lighting was just about perfect.

 So I had the opportunity to get as many pictures as I wanted.

A Coast Guard Boat in St. Joseph

So I stopped in St. Joseph before heading home.  My dad never saw the lighthouse in person.

 As we were heading to the lighthouse, this a Coast Guard 45 foot response boat.

It was a nice day at any rate.

And Continuing On to St. Joseph

I decided to head down to St. Joseph as well.  It was kind of hoping to get some pictures there too.

 It was a little sunnier in St. Joseph.  Made for an interesting sunset.

 I was able to walk on more of the pier than I was expecting to but I'm still getting better from my surgery, so probably not as much as I wanted.

 So I wanted to get some other pictures.

 From most of the pier.  I wasn't brave enough to walk closer and I didn't bring my other lenses.

 It was still okay though.

Continuing on to St Joseph

I decided to continue my travels down the coast to the St. Joseph Lighthouse.  Based on other pictures I've seen and some that I've taken, I figured that it would be pretty cool if the winds hadn't died down.

 Luckily for me, they hadn't died down.

 I actually had some thoughts of going a little further out on the pier when I saw that the center was relatively dry.  This wash of water convinced me otherwise.  I never want to put myself in a situation where someone will say, "Well, here are the last pictures in his camera".

 Since the waves were crashing on most of the beach, I decided to head up the little hill that stands in front of the beach.  I left my camera in burst mode.  This meant that I got a ton of pictures but it also meant that I would likely get some pictures that I wanted.

 I kind of like this one where the spray engulfs the range light.

 For some reason, this picture almost reminds me of one of those Japanese silkscreen prints.

 I wanted to get a shot of the trees just to give you an idea of the winds.

 What happened to the range light?

 Just look at that sky.

 It was pretty cool catching this.

And I moved to the other side of the river to get another angle.  You can't even see the southside pier.

A Lovely Morning for the St. Joseph Lighthouse

So my next stop was St. Joseph.  It was a pretty nice day and not too hot.  It was a little breezy when we got to St Joseph.

 It was a nice sunny day and it was hitting the lighthouse just about right.

 I was trying different angles of the light.

 As I went to the other side, I saw the covering water and I liked the reflection of the lighthouse in it.

 So I just tried different shots from different angles as I approached it.

 I kind of like this one.

 I really like this one.

 At this point, I was trying to keep my feet from getting further wet, so I was kind of staying near the center.
