The ship that I was waiting for was the Herbert C. Jackson.
I like to catch ships as they come into Cleveland. You can almost reach out an touch them.
According to Marine Traffic, she was heading down from Calcite which meant that she had a load of stone.
It was about the right time to catch her too.
she passes the pier light.
Another shot of that.
I kind of like this angle.
She comes in closer.
Another shot of her as she is in the breakwater.
She continues down the Cuyahoga River. I'm not quite sure where she was headed on the river though.

Some Shots from Wendy Park
These are just some shots from around Wendy Park between shots of ships.
It looks like they have been doing some work on the Coast Guard Station. I like the looks of it and I hope that this leads to more.
I think the Cleveland skyline looks pretty neat.
The light was just about perfect.
I was trying to get a full expanse shot.
One of the Cleveland Pier Lights.
The other pier light.
A cormorant decided to fly by.
Another angle of the station.
Tried to get a shot without the flag pole.
It started to cloud up as the day went along.
A shot of downtown.

The Mississagi Enters the Cuyahoga River
I was not expecting to see another ship entering Cleveland. When I checked Marine Traffic that morning, I saw that this ship was in Lorain, Ohio. As I was riding the train, I saw that she was leaving Lorain and then I discovered that she was in fact heading to Cleveland. She was sitting at anchor for a while.
I made it to Wendy Park just in time to catch her passing the pier lights. I kind of wish there weren't the pleasure boats in the picture but oh well.
I believe she was carrying a load of stone but I wasn't quite sure where in Cleveland she was heading.
The light was hitting her just about right though. I just wish the river were a little calmer.
She is definitely a good looking boat. It seems like she is taken care of.
A couple of crew members watching all of the activity.
A clean shot of her. If you look to the right, you can see the pilothouse of the Isa.
She finally gets to pass through the rail bridge after the trains passed.
I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get another picture of the blimp.
A little closer to my trifecta but no train.
A shot of her stack.
Another shot with the blimp.
I thought she was going to make the turn to the right but maybe there were too many boats in the way.

The Cleveland Skyline from Wendy Park
As I was riding on the train, I saw that there was a ship that was heading into Cleveland Harbor. I wasn't sure if I would have a chance to catch it but I figured I would try.
The ship in question was the Isa which is owned by Polsteam. Unfortunately, I didn't make it time to catch her but I'm pretty sure I have pictures of her.

Some Shots from Wendy Park
Just some shots that I took during the day.
A shot of the Cleveland skyline from Wendy Park. I kind of liked the clouds in the background.
A Coast Guard boat making sure that the boaters stay safe.
A sheriff boat doing the same thing.
A friend of mine used to have an old teddy bear hanging from the window. He called it "Scum Bear", this kind of reminded me of that.
A seagull.
Another seagull.
One of the two pier lights at the channel entrance.
The boat with scum bear.
Another seagull.
I kind of like the sight of a sailboat under full sail.

The American Courage Entering the Cuyahoga River
As I was waiting for the Nickel Plate, I saw that Manistee was heading for Cleveland and the American Courage was docked there. It looked like the Manistee would be arriving at about the same time I was, so that was encouraging. When I arrived, there was a saltie leaving and the Manistee was starting to turn around to enter the breakwater. She was taking her time doing so.
As I looked towards the American Courage, I saw why the Manistee was taking her time. The Courage was starting to back out from her dock. I was planning to get pictures of her after the Manistee but this was just as well.
The sun was setting and that made for a nice variety of colors.
It's always impressive to see a ship here because they are so up close and personal.
The Manistee waiting patiently in the background for the American Courage to enter.
The sun was hitting her just right.
And she was moving a little faster.
But not too fast.
The bow as it starts to pass the Cleveland skyline.
After a quick snap, I was able to get a bifecta because an airplane flew over.
Her plimsoll lines.
Looking up at the pilot house.
She passes by.
Some other people enjoying the park.
And she turns towards the River.
