Last week, I saw that the Kaye E. Barker was heading into Grand Haven. I knew that I couldn't make it in time to catch her entering Grand Haven but I was pretty sure I could catch her leaving Grand Haven. It seems like the ships back out when they leave Grand Haven, so for me it is almost like I am catching them as they enter Grand Haven.
When I first entered Grand Haven, it was a mad house. There were people everywhere and it didn't look like I was going to get a parking spot. I was about to give up when I remembered there was a little park on the other side of the river. Of course it started to rain when I headed over there, that might have helped in clearing out the people. It was almost empty and provided a good spot to catch the Barker. As I was waiting for the Barker, I decided to take a picture of the lighthouse. Judging by the pier, I might have been able to go back to my original idea but I'm glad I didn't.

A Norfolk Southern Engine and the Tire
As I was heading home, I saw this guy parked in front of the tire.
I like it when I can get pictures of stuff with familiar landmarks in them. And you can't get much more familiar that the tire. The frame of the tire was a Ferris wheel in the 1964 New York World's fair. It was moved to Detroit in 1966.
Just a Norfolk Southern engine.

A Windsor Police Boat Passes By
As I was finishing up at Riverside, this guy passed by.
It was a Windsor Police Boat. It looks like the same type of boat used by the Coast Guard. It was going in a hurry too.

A Beech Baron Flies Overhead
Everytime I hear a plane, I have to look up.
I was fortunate enough to have my big lens in this case. But unfortunately, the plane was flying pretty high. It turns out that it was a Beechcraft Baron.

The Tug Victory and her Barge the Maumee
I was not expecting to catch the next one.
the Tug Victory was pushing her barge the Maumee.
I think they may have in fact been coming up from Toledo.
In which case, it would have been nice to catch them on their namesake river.
she passes by.
An almost beamshot.
She gets closer.
And almost passes under the Ambassador Bridge.
I think she is actually under the bridge here.
And she continues on her way. I think she was heading up to one of the stone docks.

Catching a Robinson
Every so often, a helicopter will fly over Riverside Park.
this is a Robinson R44 Helicopter which means it can carry 4 passengers.
It is bigger than the Robinson R22.
One more shot before moving to the next subject.

Just Some Pictures of the Westcott
These are just some pictures of the Westcott in action.
The Westcott heading out to greet the Anderson.
The Westcott heading back after delivering some stuff to the Anderson.
She pushes some of the water.
I like this shot with the stern of the Anderson in it.
She heads back to the dock.
A wave from the captain.
And she heads back from the next ship.
One more picture.
