And Then There was the Tadoussac

 This is the ship that I wanted to catch.

I was watching the CSL Tadoussac as she was heading up the river.

She stopped for fuel which delayed my going to catch her.

I was kind of waffling because I didn't feel like driving up to Port Huron.  It is roughly an hour and a half from my place.

I prefer to catch more ships when I head up there but there are some ships that I can make exceptions for.

This is one of them, especially since I think she is not long for this world.

But you never know.  She is a nice looking ship at any rate.

Sadly, the classic Canadian lakers are getting rarer.

So I will try to catch her as much as I can.

I'm not sure where she was heading from.

But she is heading to Superior, Wisconsin.

I think she will end up picking up coal from there.

From this point, she has another two days worth of journey.

She passes under the Blue Water Bridges.

The light was just about perfect.

I'm glad I decided to overcome my apathy and head up there.

And the CSL Tadoussac

 To catch the next ship, I went to the other end of the Detroit River.  It was getting late in the day and it was kind of overcast, so I wanted to make sure I caught her.

So I headed down to Belanger Park.

It is at the other end of the Detroit River.

The ship in question was the CSL Tadoussac.

She is the other classic laker that is owned by the Canada Steamship Lines.

It rare that I catch one of them and it is even rarer when I catch both of them.

I'm not sure where she was heading from.

But she was heading up to Duluth Superior.

I think that means she is going up to get coal.

I think that means she is heading back to Nanticoke.

Based on the distances of the Great Lakes and shipping times, it means I might have a chance to catch her on Saturday.

I hope so because I would like to catch her loaded.

As I was finishing, the sun started to come out.

Which looked cool against the gray sky.

Catching Another Favorite

 This was the last of the ships I wanted to catch at Riverside Park.

She is another favorite of mine.  Mainly because she is one of the last Canadian built classic lakers left on the Great Lakes.

She has one of the more unique wakes on the Great Lakes.  Mainly because of her saddle tanks.

They create a disturbance which gives her a nice wave pattern.

She passes the Renaissance Center.

She is a nice looking ship, I just wish she didn't have that huge self-unloader.

This might be my favorite.

When I took these pictures, she was heading to Nanticoke.  I presume she had a load of taconite.

And I switched to my drone.

I like this shot.  You can see her wake fairly clearly.

She continues on.

After she went to Nanticoke, she headed to Fairport.
