Catching the Harvest Spirit on Christmas Eve

Yesterday found me at Belanger Park because I wanted to catch the Kaye Barker.  She was heading to the mouth of the Rouge River and Belanger was where I could catch her.

One of the nice things about Belanger is that I can get a decent picture of ships that are loading or unloading at the grain elevator in Windsor.
I believe the Harvest Spirit was unloading here.  Today she is on her way up to Thunder Bay.
I presume she is going up there for grain.  So I suspect I might see her again.

Catching the Harvest Spirit as She Leaves

As I arrived at Riverside, I took a picture of the Harvest Spirit as she was docked.
I think she might have been fueling up.
Shortly after I finished the pictures of the Munson, I noticed that she was pulling out of the dock.
Zug Island kind of reminds me of Han Solo's home planet from the movie about him.  So I sometimes call it Corellia.
She looks a little rusty for a McKeil ship.  They seem like they take care of their ships.
the Gordie Howe Bridge in the background.
The center of the bridge.
One more shot with my regular camera.
And then I switched to my drone.
She is heading up to Thunder Bay.
I presume that means she is going to pick up grain, but I'm not sure.
The beam shot.
One more shot of her, I wanted to get a shot of the city in the picture too.

The Harvest Spirit Coming in to Dock

I saw the next ship as she was coming upbound on Marine Traffic.

I saw that she was slowing down.  I actually thought she was slowing down to wait for the Mark Barker on the next ship to pass.
But it turns out that she was slowing down because she was going to dock in Sarnia.
And that meant I wasn't getting any shots with my drone.
I'm kind of bummed about that because I was looking forward to it.
I think she was coming up from Windsor and I think that meant she had a load of grain for the elevator here.

The Harvest Spirit at Rest

The Harvest Spirit was resting nearby.

I think this is a pretty cool looking ship.  I've caught her out and about a few times.
I like the reflections in this shot.

The Harvest Spirit at Rest

There was another ship that was at the grain elevator.  I also think she was resting although she may have gotten there recently.

The Harvest Spirit was at another spot near the grain elevator.  I think she got there a little more recently, as evidenced by the ice on her bow.
I decided to get a close up of her bow.  I kind of liked the pattern of the ice.  Anyway, I can't imagine being out there now.

The Harvest Spirit Passes Belle Isle

My mom wanted to go to Belle Isle to see the fountain.  It was a good thing I didn't try to catch the Tregurtha at Belle Isle because it was pretty crazy.  It was a nice night, so everybody was out there.  As I was going down the one side, I saw the Appledore passing by.  Unfortunately, I couldn't get a picture of her and it would have been cool because she was under sail.

Anyway, as we got to the other end of the island.  I saw a ship coming down.  I was not expecting a ship to be coming down but I found a place to stop.
I thought the moon reflecting on the water looked pretty cool  Unfortunately, if I wanted a setting where the moon didn't look like a gaseous ball, the ship would be too dark.  Since I'd rather see the ship, gaseous ball it was.
She was heading down to Windsor.  I presume she was heading for the grain elevator to either deliver grain or load grain.
She is owned by McKeil Marine and it seems like they take pretty good care of their ships.
She passes the Detroit Princess.

Next Up...the Harvest Spirit

This one a little closer behind the Tadoussac.

I couldn't quite get it in the first spot where I get a headshot.  I was still getting pictures of the Tadoussac with my drone.
I kind of like this ship too.  She's a pretty nice looking ship.
Again, I'm not sure where she was coming from.
But I think she was heading to Nanticoke.
As I type this post, she is currently in Monroe.
I'm not sure what she was carrying though.
I would guess by her name, grain but that's not always a good guess.
She makes the turn for the river.
And then I took to my drone.
I like her from this angle.
She starts to get passed by the pilot boat.
And you can tell it's the pilot boat in this picture.
Sort of a beam shot.
And she continues on her way.

The Harvest Spirit Also Unloads

There was also the Harvest Spirit.

She was also unloading in Windsor.  The Ojibway was also unloading but she wasn't giving me a good angle, so I didn't take a picture of her.
