Some Drone Shots of the USS Edson

After getting some drone shots of the Edson one day, I decided that I wanted to get some more.  After the funeral on Thursday, it provided a good opportunity to do so.  It was a little on the windy side but not too bad.  I ended up going a little closer to her in order to get some decent angles.

It was a weird weather day, it started out sunny and it was snowing during the funeral.  The sun peaked out a little bit.
For instance, the sun peaked out in this shot.
I tried to get more or less a beam shot in this picture.  Unfortunately, I couldn't go much higher because of the wind.
Since I like bow shots and I would either need a drone or a boat to do so, I took some.
I went a little lower to get the angle that I'm used to.  I didn't want to go much lower because I didn't want my drone to become a submersible.
I was trying another angle.  I can get this one but not from the air.
I moved over again.
A little closer but not too close.

Catching the USS Edson With My Drone

After getting pictures of the lighthouse, I decided to head over to the Edson so I could get pictures of her.

Ever since they moved her to her new spot, I found it was difficult to get pictures of her.  Especially since I usually arrive in Bay City in the afternoon and the sun is usually behind her.  When I got the drone, I figured she would be a good subject for it.
So I moved over to get the quarter angle shot that I like.  I'm gonna try this angle for other ships  I think.  I really like it.
I raised the drone up a little bit to get a higher angle.  I still like this angle.
Then I wanted a higher shot.
Looking down the length of the ship.
And from the front at a higher angle.
And this is the angle that I've been looking for.  Almost perfectly lighted for me.

Catching Up With the Edson

I had a little time after catching the Cuyahoga at the Independence Bridge, so  I decided to fly my drone over to get a picture of the Edson.

I've been meaning to get a better picture of the Edson anyway.  It is not in a great spot to get pictures from the ground.  This will work and I may have to get back to get better pictures.

A Stop at the USS Edson

I decided to head up to Fish Point yesterday in order to see if could catch any snowy owls.  I didn't see any, so I swung by Bay City on the way back.   While I was there, I decided to see if I could see any eagles.  I didn't see any eagles there either.  I didn't want to not have any pictures, so I decided to stop at the USS Edson.
I was kind of amazed at the level of the river near it.  I don't think I've see the river that high and because of that, I couldn't quite get the angle that I was looking for.  Normally, I could stand so that I'm slightly in front of the reeds.  Oh well, it's not a bad picture.
I went over to another spot to try to get a better picture, but I couldn't quite get out far enough because of the water.  I wasn't sure if it was just ice or over the river.
This might have been my favorite shot if I weren't shooting into the sun.

The USS Edson at Sunset

I decided to stop at one more place tonight.
I figured that the sunlight was just about right and I could get a decent picture of the USS Edson.  As I got there, I saw that they cut down a spot in the weeds to get a decent picture of her.  And the light was perfect.
