Night Time Plane Shots

It's that time of year again.  It is generally dark when I get home from work, so that means I need to try some nighttime shots.  This time I wanted to try something different, so I tried to get some nighttime shots of the airport.
There is a spot at the main parking deck where you are overlooking some of the gates.  The spots are usually occupied by MD-88's and CRJs.  This particular plane is an MD-88 getting ready to head to Raleigh-Durham.
For this picture, I was inspired by a picture on one of the aviation groups on Facebook.  He had a sunset shot of this terminal.  I thought a night shot would look cooler.
The MD-88 from the first picture getting ready to take off.  This was a little trickier because the plane was moving.  Still, not too bad of an attempt.
A Skywest CRJ-900 heading to San Antonio.  I like this one a little better but I thought the runways were a little better lit.
 A 757 coming in for a landing.
After fiddling around with some of the settings.  This shot actually gives me a little hope.
And this one gave me the most hope of all of them.  A Skywest CRJ-200 heading to Escanaba. Since it was dark, I would say it ended up under the moonlight.

A Cloudy Moon

As I was heading into work yesterday morning, I looked up at the sky and saw the moon.  I kind of wish I could have gotten it sooner because it was getting some of the colors from the sunrise.  But I think I still got a pretty nice picture.
At least some of the clouds caught some of that light.

A Foggy Day for Planewatching

A friend of mine was heading off to Japan on Sunday and I told her that I would try to get a picture of her plane taking off.  However I didn't count on it being nasty.
First up is an American Airlines MD-82.  I think this one was heading to Chicago O'Hare.  I was about to give up, but I was already there.
A Delta 737 taxiing after landing.  I think this one came in from Seattle.
A Delta A320 taking off.  Since I can't make out the tail numbers, I can't tell where they would be heading.
This is the A330 that would take my friend to Nagoya.  I think it was a 14 hour flight for her.
 A Delta 737.
 An MD-88, I think.
I had to stick around for the 757s. I think this one was heading for Orlando.
And the 757-300.  I think this one was heading for Seattle.
Another 757-200.  I think this one was headed for LAX.

I do like to get weather shots but only when I can somewhat clearly see the planes.

The James R. Barker Visits Cleveland

I've seen a fair amount of ships in Cleveland now.  One that I haven't seen was a thousand footer.  When I was looking at Marine Traffic on Saturday, I was thinking about heading to Grand Haven to catch the Sykes.  Fortunately I didn't because she didn't arrive there until much much later in the day.  Then I saw the James R. Barker near Detroit, so I decided to see where she was headed.  When I saw that she was headed to Cleveland, my decision became much easier.
The James R. Barker had to wait a little bit before she could enter the harbor.  Apparently she was circling around on Lake Erie while she was waiting for the Buffalo to leave the terminal.
Once the Buffalo was heading down the Cuyahoga, the Barker could enter.
She ended up heading to the right of the channel.
But first she had to pass the entrance.

She makes her turn to the right.
I didn't think I'd get a shot of her full length.
Once she made it far enough, she adjusted so that she could back straight towards the Bulk Terminal.

Like I said, it was starting to cloud over.
But it was still sunny to the other side.
Which made for some cool pictures.
I do like the look of the scrubbers.  it almost makes her look like a proper steamship again.
She slowly works her way to the dock.
 A headshot.
 And she's at the dock.
She will just unload her taconite.  I'm not even sure she'd make it up the Cuyahoga once.

Some Trains

One of the nice things about Wendy Park is that it is also a pretty nice spot for trainwatching.
This was an eastbound Norfolk Southern train.
I would like to figure out how to get a better angle of trains here.
A train rustling in the bushes.

And it goes over the bridge.
One of these days I would like to catch the river when its calm.

Some Shots from Wendy Park

These are just some shots from around Wendy Park between shots of ships.
It looks like they have been doing some work on the Coast Guard Station.  I like the looks of it and I hope that this leads to more.
I think the Cleveland skyline looks pretty neat.
The light was just about perfect.
I was trying to get a full expanse shot.
One of the Cleveland Pier Lights.
 The other pier light.
A cormorant decided to fly by.
 Another angle of the station.

Tried to get a shot without the flag pole.
It started to cloud up as the day went along.
A shot of downtown.
