So it was one more trip to the Convocation Center tonight. It was the first game of the MAC Basketball Tournament for them. They made it there by virtue of getting 6th place in the MAC. Had they won a couple more games, they could have gotten a 1st round bye but they didn't so here they are. The game was against the hated Chippewas of Central Michigan.
Even though Eastern Michigan dominated them in both games they played, I had a bad feeling going into tonight. I've been watching sports for too long to take anything for granted. It seems like it is playoff time when teams find a way to beat someone that has dominated them all season.
The game started off a bit shaky. It didn't seem like anything Eastern was putting up was going in. This is a shot of Mike Talley dishing the ball off. Eastern seemed tenative.
My best shot from that period was while Swoop was playing the drums.
Finally Eastern started to find it's way to the basket and didn't look back from that point on. There were a couple of scary points in the game but those didn't last long.
Riley dishing it into the basket.
Mike Talley directing the troops.
Raven Lee working his way around the Chippewa defense.
Daylen Harrison had a pretty good game.
Normally, I wouldn't post a picture this busy here, but this one tells everything, I think.
Mike Talley getting some advice post game.
Eastern won 72 to 60. Central was able to bring it within two points at one time but Eastern turned on the gas and didn't look back. At one point, they had a 20 point lead. I hope this bodes well for the rest of the tournament.
Well this is my last game for the season. It's been fun and I can't wait for next year.
