A Pair of Flags

I was looking across the river at the flags flying over there.  There is a mirror image on the US side.

It was breezy enough and it felt good today because it was a little on the muggy side.  It took a few attempts to get a decent shot of the Maple Leaf.
This was probably my best shot of the US flag though.

And the Frontenac

The other ship I went up to Port Huron to catch was the Frontenac.

The Frontenac is one of my favorites because she is one of the last Canadian Classic Lakers left.  I haven't seen the Tadoussac this year nor have I seen the Leitch this year, so this one will have to do.
She was in Windsor and based on where she started her journey today, I think she was delivering stone to the stone dock there.
I'm not sure what she was doing here.  It is possible she was getting fueled.
Anyway the light was nice for me and she is always a pleasure to catch.
Especially since I think she is not long for this world.
As I type this, she is now heading up Lake Huron but her destination still reads "Windsor" and I don't think that is correct.
If I had to guess, she is heading up to Thunder Bay.
A bow shot.
Starting to bring the drone back.
A little further away.
One more shot before going home.

The Algoma Compass at Rest

While I was bringing my drone back after taking pictures of the Tregurtha, I decided to get some pictures of a ship I saw over the trees on the other side of the river.
I turns out that ship was the Algoma Compass.
I thought I saw her out earlier this season, but I might be mistaken.
At any rate, she is in layup, but I saw her lights on.
I suspect that means she will be coming back out.
One more shot.

Some Fish Tugs

I still had a bit before my next ship, I thought about taking these with my drone but I had my big lens on.

These fish tugs are petty neat looking.  they look better when they are in action though.
Another one.

A Pair of Docked Tankers

After catching the Tregurtha, I decided to get dinner at a dinner in Port Huron.  Since I got drive thru, I decided to eat it at one of the parks nearby.  That particular park is in front one of the spots where tankers dock.

One of the tankers docked was my favorite, the Algonova.  I think she left last night but I'm not sure where she ended up heading to.
The other one docked there was the Algoterra.

It was pretty cool to get some night shots of ships.

Michigan Exposures Welcomes a New Ship

While I was waiting for the next ship, I looked over towards Canada and I saw a ship that I never saw before docked there.

The ship in question was the Algoberta.  She was just bought by Algoma Central and brought over here.  She is named after one of Algoma's largest customer provinces, Alberta.  The Algoberta was formally known as the Chiberta.  She was built in 2010 in Norway as the Birgit Knutsen.  She is the sister ship to the Algotitan.

Both ships will be replacing some of the older tankers (not sure which).

The Algoma Intrepid at Rest

I went to another spot where I was able to get some other ships.

First up was the Algoma Intrepid.  I think she's been fairly busy and was just laid up recently.
She was next to the Whitefish Bay and I'm not sure what the ship in back was.

The Robert S. Pierson at Rest

The Robert S. Pierson was across from the Kaministiqua.

Again, it wasn't too obscured by the trees, so I grabbed a picture.

The Kaministiqua at Rest

Since it was relatively in view, I decided to get pictures.

The Kaministiqua is waiting for the season to start.  Behind her is the Michipicoten.
I'm not sure how much longer she is going to be in layup.  I imagine she gets out soon.

The Welland Tug

As I was watching the Algoma Conveyor, I saw that a tug was coming out to assist her.

The tug in question was the Welland.
It is a pretty neat looking tugboat.
Since I don't get to see many tugs, I was happy to see her.
She goes around the Algoma Conveyor.
She get's in position.
And starts to push the Algoma Conveyor in.

The L&R Fish Tug

Since the fish tug is right across from where I take pictures, I decided to take a picture of it.

It's kind of a neat looking vessel.

The AlgoScotia Docked

On Sunday I decided to head up to Port Huron to catch some ships.  As I was waiting, I decided to get a picture of this one.

The AlgoScotia was docked in Sarnia.  I'm not sure what she was doing there.

Life is Just a Fantasy - Part Alot

This is a ship I love to catch pictures of.

She's not particularly different from the other tankers, I just like that her name is similar to that of an old 80s band.  The band in question is the Canadian band, Aldo Nova.  I think they've had two hits.

The Algosea at Rest

As I was taking pictures of the CSL Assiniboine.  I saw that there were pair of ships docked at the fuel docks.

I'm not sure if the Algosea was loading or something else but I saw that she was heading to Nanticoke today.  I'm pretty sure that was to deliver some fuel.

The Qikiqtaaluk W Unloading in Sarnia

I think I've seen this ship before.  After the Munson, I headed back to Port Huron because I was going to head somewhere west of Port Huron.  As I was passing by, I saw a ship that I wanted to get a picture of.

The ship in question was the Qikiqtaaluk W.  She is named after an uninhabited island in the Nunuvik region of Canada.  She is owned by the Coastal Shipping Limited company.  She was built in 2011 and is flagged in the Marshall Islands.  She can carry almost 20,000 tons of cargo.  And it turns out, I haven't see it before.

The Missassagi Awaits Her Fate

Since I had my drone in the area, I wanted to see if I could get it high enough to see the Mississagi.

The Mississagi has been docked since her last trip over there.  I think she is sitting there in case they need her but eventually she will be sent somewhere to be scrapped.  I don't really like to take pictures of ships languishing but it was there.  It will be a sad day when she finally is towed for scrap.

The Algoterra at Rest

Occasionally, there are some ships that are resting at the dock in Sarnia.  Most of the time, they are waiting for dock space at the chemical docks.

I suspect that was the case this time as well.  The Algoterra waiting.

Some Shots of the Fishing Boats

Every time I'm in Port Huron, I can look across the river and see the Purdy Fishery in Sarnia.  My mom wanted me to take some pictures of it, so I did.

A pair of fish tugs docked out in front.  It is rare when I see these guys out and about.
They look pretty cool though.
Pulled out to get all of them.
Since I had my drone out for other reasons, I decided to send it in closer.  I stayed over the water though.
A pair of fish tugs.  I thought they looked kind of cool.
Some more.
My mom didn't want aerial shots, so I decided to pull my drone closer to the water.  I didn't want to bring it too close because I would afraid it would auto land.
Some more.
A lone tug.
And the group of them.
