The Eaton County Courthouse

M-50 also ends up taking you through Charlotte, Michigan.  Charlotte is just south of Lansing and is the county seat of Eaton County.
In 1835, the land that would become Charlotte was bought by George Barnes.  He in turn sold it to someone else.  In 1835, these people would form the village that was named after one of their wives.  It was designated the county seat in 1837 but wouldn't officially become a village until 1863 and a city in 1871.
Currently there are 9,000 people in the town.
 A Civil War monument.
It's rare to run into towns with one Medal of Honor recipient.  Charlotte had two of them.
