Thunder Over Michigan 2010 Part 4

The next part of the show was what was called a Heritage Flight. The first one officially started in 1997 with the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Air Force. It was so popular that requests to repeat them have been made. Typically it involves a World War II fighter and a modern fighter. I've seen one where they had a modern fighter, a not quite so modern fighter and a World War II plane. On You tuber, there used to be one where there was a Modern RAF plane, a Spitfire and a World War I plane and that was interesting.

Anyways, this one was an F-16 and a P-51.

This is the pair of planes as they pass by. It's kind of amazing when you think about it because you see just how fair aircraft have come in almost 40 years (the Mustang first flew in the early 40's, the F-16 the late 70's).
