US Coast Guard Dolphin Helicopter

Because one of my favorite activities is to go shipwatching, the Coast Guard gets alot of love on this blog. It is my opinion that they deserve all the love that they get on this page because they many good things.

The Coast Guard was represented in the air show by the HH-65 Dolphin Helicopter.
The Dolphin was selected in 1979 as a replacement for the HH-52 Sea Guard. Unlike its predecessor, the Dolphin can not perform water landings.
The Dolphin carries a crew of four - pilot, co-pilot, rescue swimmer and flight mechanic.
It is used in many roles. For today's demonstration, they were showing how it would undergo a rescue operation. In this picture, the basket is being lowered to the "water".
Being raised back up. Under normal circumstances, this would have a person in it.
This is the rescue swimmer being lifted up.
The Helicopter took a final pass before it headed back to its base at Selfridge.
