It's always nice to see our Coast Guard in action. I don't think those guys get the credit that they deserve.
This is a Defender Class Boat. It was first introduced in 2002 and is making it's way around the various Coast Guard stations.
The official length of the hull is 25 feet but when you add the motors, it increases to 29 feet.
The main hull is made of aluminum and the inflatable part is made out of polyethylene foam. I would imagine like many of the smaller Coast Guard boats, it is self righting.
There currently over 800 in service with the Coast Guard and around the world.
