The Mariner's Church - Detroit, MI

Anyone who has ever heard the song "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" by Gordon Lightfoot has heard of the Mariner's Church in Detroit. It was founded in 1848 as a mission to the maritime sailors of the Great Lakes.

Every year on November 10, the church bell rings 29 times for each man lost on the Edmund Fitzgerald.

The church itself is near the Renaissance Center.

A shot of the church as I was standing on the other side of Jefferson.

A shot from an angle as I was standing on an island in the middle of Jefferson.

A shot of the stained glass.

A shot of the tower.

A shot of the front.

I don't know if it was intential, but the layout almost reminds me of a lighthouse.
