Branch County Courthouse

 If you continue west from Hillsdale County, you will find yourself in Branch County.

Branch County was created in 1829 but organized in 1833.  It was named for Secretary of the Navy John Branch who served under Andrew Jackson.  Coldwater was established by people from the New England states.  

The Courthouse itself was a more modern building.  The new courthouse was built in 1974 (I didn't really like the look of it, so I didn't take a picture of it).   This is the clock tower from the courthouse which was built in 1888 and destroyed by arson in 1972.
