And the Main Attraction

Like I said, I took a half day off.  I figured that I would be able to catch the Detroit as she pulled into Detroit.
I ended up going to Milliken State Park because I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to catch her as she was off Belle Isle.  As I arrived at Milliken State Park, I saw that she was just off Belle Isle.  This is the view as she rounded Belle Isle.
If you look up to the right, you can see the News Chopper.  Like I said in the last post, I was thinking that it was actually a Border Patrol or Coast Guard chopper.  I'm not sure I've ever seen the News Chopper, so it was a nice surprise.
I'm still not 100% sold on these ships, especially with the some of the problems that they have been having.  However, I can't argue that this version of the LCS isn't a nice looking ship.  I haven't seen the other class in person, but the catamaran looks odd.
I think these ships are going to get an upgrade to make them more like frigates.  I think that version will even be called a frigate.
Some of the crew mulling about on the bow.  I actually thought they would be manning the rail but perhaps they were too busy for that.
 She slowly passes Windsor.
Since I've never really seen them from this angle, I didn't realize how sleek these ships look.  It has a pretty nice profile for a ship.
She is greeted by one of the tugboats.
I guess if I had one complaint, the lighting wasn't the best.  The sun was almost directly behind her.
She starts to make her turn towards the dock.
If I remember correctly, she is equipped with azipods.  That gives her some maneuverability.
 The almost straight on shot.
As you can see, there was quite a bit of activity.
 Just a different angle.
The tugs approach to ease her into the dock.

A close up of the crew working the lines.
An even closer shot of the crew.

The sun was reflecting off the bridge.
I wanted a shot to show that she was actually in Detroit.

And one more.

On Wednesday, they are going to have public tours of her.  I am hoping that I will get a chance to tour on her.

The shot with the Detroit skyline was a challenge well met. The limitations imposed by your vantage point prevented getting a more prominent view of her.
