Grand Junction, Colorado

Our next station stop was Grand Junction, Colorado. As the train was running ahead of schedule we had a little time to spend in the station area. Sadly this is another one of those places where the original station was in such a state of disrepair that Amtrak had to build a new station.

A view of the train and people mulling about in front of it. It's always amazing to see how many people get off the train.

This is the old train station. You can see the elevation of over 4000 feet.

This is the old Rail Master's station. This line was part of the Denver - Rio Grande Railroad. You can see the stained glass window.

Another shot of the old station.

The train and station master's house.

This was actually a pretty nice station stop. They had a little gift shop inside and I was able to get myself a Union Pacific Engineer's hat.
