The Algocape

I kind of got a bonus ship today as this ship wasn't on the list. She was kind of a double bonus as this is her debut appearance on this blog. The Algocape was launched as the Richelieu in 1966 for the Canadian Steamship Lines. She was built by the Davie Shipbuilding Company in Lauzon, Quebec. She was the flagship for the Canadian Steamship Lines at that time.
She was the last straightdecker that wasn't converted to a self-unloader. She carried mostly grain.
In 1994, she was sold to the Algoma Corporation, where she obtained her current name.
She is 730 feet long and can carry almost 30,000 tons of cargo.
I waited around for her to come up further, but it turns out she was stopping in Windsor. Her is a shot of the Algocape and the Pierson at the dock.
